Course overview

In today’s fast-paced world, effective time management and stress management are essential skills for achieving a balanced and fulfilling life. This immersive 5-day course is designed to equip participants with practical strategies and techniques to navigate the demands of personal and professional life while prioritizing their well-being and sustainability.

The course will begin by exploring the fundamental concepts of time management and stress management, establishing a clear understanding of their interrelationship and the common sources of stress in various contexts. Participants will gain insights into the importance of prioritization, goal-setting, and identifying individual stress triggers and responses.

Emphasis will be placed on introducing participants to a wide range of time management tools and techniques, such as the Eisenhower Matrix, Pomodoro Technique, and SMART goal-setting. Through hands-on exercises and practical applications, participants will develop the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage their time efficiently, and set achievable goals.

Stress management strategies will be a central focus of the course. Participants will learn various techniques, including deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, mindfulness, and meditation, to help them cope with stress and promote overall well-being. The course will explore the role of mindfulness and meditation in stress reduction, empowering participants to cultivate a sense of calm and clarity amidst life’s challenges.

The concept of work-life balance will be examined in-depth, with participants gaining insights into strategies for managing competing priorities and setting boundaries between work and personal life. The course will also delve into the concept of resilience and its role in managing stress, equipping participants with strategies for building resilience and fostering a sustainable approach to life.

To enhance the learning experience and provide a cultural context, the course will incorporate a guided visit to a local museum, heritage site, or eco-conscious initiative. This visit will allow participants to explore the cultural richness of the area, draw inspiration from sustainable practices, and gain insights into the intersection of time management, stress management, and environmental awareness.

Day 1: Understanding stress and prioritization

  • Case studies of successful work-personal balances: Analyzing their strategies and approaches

Day 2: Mastering time management techniques

  • Introduction to various time management tools and techniques (e.g., Eisenhower Matrix, Pomodoro Technique)
  • Practice exercises on prioritization and goal-setting
  • Strategies for setting SMART goals
  • Interactive exercise: SMART goals for your organization / project / activity
  • Exploration of the importance of delegation and saying no

Day 3: Stress management and mindfulness

  • Cultural visit (e.g. museum, heritage site) guided in English to explore local heritage and sustainable practices
  • Exploring the connection between poor time management and stress
  • Identification of individual stress triggers and responses
  • Introduction to stress management techniques (e.g., deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation)
  • Exploration of the role of mindfulness and meditation in stress reduction

Day 4: Achieving work-life balance and sustainability

  • Introduction to the concept of work-life balance and its importance
  • Strategies for managing competing priorities
  • Debate on different approaches to time management and workload allocation
  • Techniques for setting boundaries between work and personal life
  • Discussion on the impact of sustainable practices on overall well-being

Day 5: Building resilience and developing an action plan

  • Introduction to the concept of resilience and its role in managing stress
  • Strategies for building resilience in the face of challenges
  • Importance of self-care and sustainable practices
  • Development of a personal action plan for implementing time and stress management strategies in daily life
  • Course evaluation and feedback
  • Certification ceremony

The classes typically run from 9 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, with the afternoon and evening reserved for self-reflection and individual study. However, the course schedule may be adjusted to accommodate the preferences of the participants and the availability of instructors or external learning locations. Participants will receive the finalized schedule well in advance, allowing ample time for preparation and planning.

Course fee:

  • 400 euro per participant (covered entirely by the Erasmus grant)
