Cultivating Critical Thinking and Mindfulness for Transformative Learning

Course overview

This immersive 5-day course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and practical strategies to foster critical thinking and mindfulness in their classrooms. Participants will delve into the art of facilitating thoughtful collaboration, exploring the concept of ‘reaction vs. response’ and discovering the power of the present moment.

The course will delve into the structure of discussions, empowering participants to create engaging classroom dialogues where students can put their knowledge into practice, develop their own views, and consolidate their learning. Participants will learn to facilitate meaningful conversations, intertwining the art of listening with the concept of mindfulness.

Emphasis will be placed on cultivating critical thinking skills, enabling participants to guide students through problem-solving exercises, distinguishing facts from opinions, and considering arguments and counterarguments. Participants will learn to create a challenging yet supportive atmosphere where concepts are questioned, and issues are raised constructively.

The course will introduce participants to the transformative power of mindfulness, presenting it as a powerful relaxation tool that can generate a more positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. Participants will explore mindfulness practices in the classroom and in nature, learning to turn on all senses and foster a present state of mind conducive to deep learning and personal growth.

To enhance the learning experience and provide a cultural context, the course will incorporate a guided visit to a local museum, heritage site, or eco-conscious initiative.
