Bridging the Digital Divide: Inclusive Education through No-Tech and Low-Tech Approaches

Course overview

This comprehensive 5-day course is designed to equip educators with practical strategies and techniques to ensure equity in access to education, particularly in situations where technology is limited or unavailable. Participants will explore no-tech and low-tech approaches that can be implemented in various educational settings, fostering inclusive and engaging learning experiences for all students, regardless of their access to digital resources.

The course will delve into the challenges posed by the digital divide, addressing the barriers that prevent equal access to educational opportunities and resources. Participants will learn how to identify and address these barriers, developing a deeper understanding of the importance of inclusive education and the role of educators in promoting equity and accessibility.

Emphasis will be placed on hands-on activities and practical exercises that demonstrate the effectiveness of no-tech and low-tech approaches in creating engaging and interactive learning experiences. Participants will explore various techniques, such as storytelling and role-playing, and the use of low-cost materials, to facilitate active learning and promote student engagement.

The course will also address the integration of cultural elements and sustainable practices into no-tech and low-tech educational approaches. Participants will learn how to leverage local resources, traditions, and indigenous knowledge to create culturally relevant and environmentally conscious learning experiences.

To enhance the learning experience and provide a cultural context, the course will incorporate a guided cultural visit within Čakovec and Međimurje County. This visit will allow participants to explore local heritage sites, sustainable initiatives, or eco-conscious organizations, drawing inspiration and practical examples for integrating cultural elements and sustainable practices into their inclusive educational approaches.
